[No participation fee] “France-Japan Hikikomori Workshop” on Wed 16th Oct, 1500-1700 JST time (GMT+9)

2024.10.04

Hikikomori, a form of pathological social withdrawal, has been highlighted in Japan
since the 1990s, and the hikikomori phenomenon is now spreading all over the
world. Furthermore, the global pandemic of COVID-19 has increased concerns
related to hikikomori. In Japan, a minister in charge of “loneliness” has been
created, and the issue of social isolation is beginning to be addressed as a national
policy. On the other hand, French Hikikomori has also been highlighted since
around 2010. Now is the time to discuss the issues of hikikomori in Japan and
France, and discuss traditional and novel types of intervention for hikikomori in
both countries. We are pleased to announce that Professor MJ Guedj Bourdiau, the
founder of hikikomori support center in Paris, and Prof. Nicolas Tajan (Kyoto) will
introduce Hikikomori in France as the special lectures.
In addition, Kato will introduce the novel evaluation system of hikikomori to clarify pathological or happy hikikomori.
